WWE Battleground 2013 - Predictions - 6/10/13

(c) – refers to the champion heading into the match

Battleground Kickoff
Dolph Ziggler vs. Damien Sandow Singles match

A bit of a throw away match, both superstars have been buried recently, instead of Building Sandow up as a future World Champ, he has lost to just about everyone, meaning he now has no credibility as a top guy, and Ziggler since he won the WHC and then got injured has also been buried.

Ziggler and Sandow will put on a good match if given enough time, they truly should be pushed to the moon, but for some reason WWE Creative simply do not know how to book either one.

Ziggler to win.

Daniel Bryan vs. Randy Orton Singles match for the vacant WWE Championship

Daniel Bryan needs to win, and needs to win big and clean, otherwise it is another pointless match while they wait for Cena to return. However I expect Orton will win, perhaps with a Big Show heel turn, or some other interference. Bryan might win, or the match will get restarted, but one way or another I see Orton leaving as WWE Champion which is a shame, since ratings have tanked since he cashed in at Summerslam, and litterally sucked the enjoyment out of the arena.

Orton wins after being carried to a good match by Daniel Bryan

Alberto Del Rio (c) vs. Rob Van Dam (with Ricardo Rodriguez) Battleground Hardcore match for the World Heavyweight Championship

Most people know that after this match RVD is taking a 3 month break, HOWEVER I have a feeling he will sneak the win here, but either Sandow cashes in straight away and takes the belt, or there is a disqualification.

Either way ADR walks away with the belt or Sandow cashes in and walks away with the belt.

Only way RVD walks away with the belt is if WWE Creative listen to the crowd, throw a load of money at RVD, or perhaps even try something new and interesting. But lets be honest that wont happen.

CM Punk vs. Ryback (with Paul Heyman) Singles match

CM Punk has to win this to keep the feud going. It really is a travesty how much Ryback has been buried since the screw job loss to Punk which ended his winning streak, (You can blame The Rock and John Cena for that one) Right now Ryback should be the killer monster in WWE, but instead I cant remember the last meaningful match he won at a PPV.

CM Punk wins, but Ryback ends up looking strong with Heyman and Curtis beat down after the match.

AJ Lee (c) vs. Brie Bella Singles match for the WWE Divas Championship

Seems strange that they have kept the belt on AJ Lee for so long, it has got boring now and just goes to show a lack of imagination in the booking for the Divas division.

I would like to see Brie win, followed by a Bryan win, ending Battleground with them both hugging in the ring each with their respective belts, and a knowledge they have overcome the machine. But alas WWE seem incapable of giving the WWE Universe what they want, so expect an AJ Lee win, followed by some Brie humiliation.

Winner AJ Lee.

Goldust and Cody Rhodes (with Dusty Rhodes) vs. The Shield (Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins) (with Dean Ambrose) Tag team match

If Goldust and Cody win, they will be reinstated by WWE.

If The Shield wins, Dusty will lose his job as an NXT trainer and the Rhodes family will be banned from WWE.

Cody has been badly booked for so long it is hard to care about this, but with Dusty and Dustin involved their is some interest.

Anything but Cody Rhodes winning clean and saving the Rhodes family wont do.

Time to build up Cody as a credible main event star, his time is now, and he must be the star in the match. Also time to give Goldust a spot on the roster, he is very popular with the fans, and can fill a great role in helping younger stars, a bit like the Chris Jericho role.

Rhodes family win.

Curtis Axel (with Paul Heyman) (c) vs. R-Truth Singles match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

Curtis Axel win, simple as that, unless they want to start pushing R-Truth, or move Curtis up to main event level to challenge with the WWE or World Heavyweight Champs, it seems pointless having R- Truth win.
A bit of a throwaway match with little of interest in the build up.

Winner - Curtis Axel

Kofi Kingston vs. Bray Wyatt Singles match

Another pointless match. Bray Wyatt despite having a great gimmick has just bombed in my opinion.
Only a Kane return could save this match.

Bray Wyatt wins as yet another young great star in Kofi gets burried.
